Master Planning
UTILITY MASTER PLANNING
Undertaking a comprehensive utilities master planning effort for a campus or
individual building will provide a framework from which both capital and
maintenance projects for utilities can be developed. The utilities master plan will
establish this framework to assist in prioritizing projects, defining redevelopment
within the context of available funding and identified needs.
CHESTNUT RUN PLAZA MASTER PLANNING
DEDC has extensive experience at Chestnut Run Plaza. We have provided
engineering and design services at CRP for over 20 years. DEDC has provided
MEP Utility Master Planning Services for all above and underground services on
Site as recently as 2020. We have worked in all the buildings on Site and
understand the MEP systems serving each building.
CAMPUS
For many campuses, the budgeting process often focuses on the physical
buildings without consideration of the site utility infrastructure needed to support
those buildings. In every case the utility infrastructure must be considered along
with the physical buildings. Also, over time a plan to upgrade the utility
infrastructure is needed to ensure continuous, reliable, sustainable operation of the
facilities.
Developing a campus utility master plan that works in close coordination with a
campus master plan as well as the age and condition of the utility infrastructure will
result in reliable site operation as well as significant energy and cost savings. A
utility master plan is also an invaluable tool for fiscal and redevelopment planning.
DEDC is a strong advocate of utility master plan generation to help guide building
development. The utility plan includes determining and documenting current Site
and building conditions, capacities, uses and conditions, as well as projected future
uses. In addition, utility master planning provides a systematic and useable plan for
phased implementation of upgrades or decommissioning of systems.
