ENHANCING HEALTH FINANCING MECHANISMS
We are committed to reviewing and strengthening the National Health Insurance Plan (NHIP) to:
• Assess universal health coverage to minimize out-of-pocket expenses.
• Investing in the local medical community to develop high quality services to give our people better options and reduce overseas referrals.
• Increase funding for preventive care at the primary care level, including long-term and home health services.
• Explore alternative healthcare financing options beyond employer- employee contributions.
• Promote Medical Tourism – The PNP supports private-sector-led ventures to diversify the TCI tourism product offering and will review the feasibility of partnership with private sector interests to develop the medical tourism sector.
IMPROVING HOSPITAL SERVICES
Develop a comprehensive strategy for transitioning f rom public-private partnerships to NHSA-governed hospital services. This will include:
• A governance and operational framework.
• Strategic human resource planning.
• Expanded physical infrastructure, including additional beds and ICU capacity.
• Enhancements to local healthcare services.
