CHAPTER THREE | Ash and The Black Heart

The next day at school, I had the usual treatment from Ash.
I walked up the steps, and like always, he was there waiting for
me. This time it seemed like he had a plan up his sleeve. As soon

as I was about to go to my classes, he silly stringed me all over. As
kids passed by, they laughed at me. I stared around in horror. I

saw Benjamin in the back, mouth wide open. We both knew that
this was another level for Ash. Usually, he always teases us and

makes fun of us like we are just two scrawny boys. He has never
actually never done anything to us. When the principal walked

through to see the commotion, Ash just acted like he didn’t do
anything. She was furious. All the students were told to go to
class. Including me. I was about to go to the bathroom when a

hissing voice whispered in my ear, “I am going to the next level,
Nerdy Noah.” Ash said before walking away. I froze there, not

moving an inch. All of a sudden, Benjamin ran up to me and said,
“WOW!. Come on, we better get to the bathroom and clean this

off before the bell rings.” We rush to the bathroom. Icky goo and
string is falling from my shoes and backpack. I try my best to

clean most off, but a vast blue stain is le on my new white shirt.
We hurry to our class right before the bell sounds our absence.
Our teacher Mrs. Oxford has a frown on her face when we walk

in. I plow my feet to my desk, and I watch as Benjamin rushes to
his chair and sits down, putting his things away. I put my things

away gradually. My head was flooding with thoughts. It ached in
agony for me. It made me question my appearance in the world.

I was sweating. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I sat in my
chair, lost in thoughts. All of a sudden, I heard a ruler snap on my

desk. I came back to reality. Mrs. Oxford stood in front of me,
asking me to solve the math problem. Usually, I am an A student
but today, numbers and letters were a blur. The next thing I
