FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING
At the end of the course, students are expected to:
CILO 1: Demonstrate competency in performing essential nursing skills including vital signs assessment, medication
administration, wound care, and hygiene procedures.
CILO 2: Apply principles of infection control and patient safety measures in all aspects of nursing care delivery
CILO 3: Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across the lifespan and
within various healthcare settings.
CILO 4: Formulate and modify nursing care plans based on ongoing assessment data and patient responses to interventions.
CILO 5: Integrate nursing theories, evidence-based practice, and ethical principles into the provision of patient-centered care.
CILO 6: Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds, values, and beliefs in communication and care delivery.
Course Intended CILO 7: Advocate for patients' rights, autonomy, and access to quality healthcare while respecting their preferences and

CILO 8: Address ethical dilemmas and moral distress situations encountered in clinical practice.

CILO 10: Utilize critical thinking skills and clinical reasoning processes to analyze complex patient situations, prioritize care
needs, and make evidence-based decisions.
CILO 11: Participate in interprofessional communication and teamwork activities to improve patient safety and quality of care
delivery.
CILO 12 on IZN: Demonstrate an understanding of the global context of nursing practice, including the diverse cultural,
socioeconomic, and political factors that influence healthcare delivery worldwide.
CILO 13 on SDG: Integrate principles of health promotion, disease prevention, and health education into nursing practice tO
support the achievement of SDG 3 targets, particularly in underserved or marginalized populations.
CILO 14 on GAD: Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and concepts of Gender and Development (GAD) and their
relevance to nursing practice, including the intersectionality of gender with other social determinants of health.
