Fan And Cone Nozzle Cleaning
• Check for roughness and damage to the inserts or the interior of the nozzle.
• Use gauge pins to check the nozzle opening for wear ( larger than a new
nozzle) or scale buildup (smaller than a new nozzle).
• Gauge pins can be used to check fan nozzles—but it takes a little skill.

• If the nozzles have scale buildup or under sized openings, soak the nozzles for an hour in a solution of 50-70 grams per liter of ammonium bifluoride. (Be sure to get proper safety training for this solution.) Spent titanium etching solution will also work.
• Rinse the nozzles thoroughly and recheck.
