Spotlight—RG417 Operations
What’s your favorite thing to do when home on time off?
My favorite way to spend my time off at home is going bowling with my wife and son, and going on a motorcycle
ride.
Where is your hometown? Why do you live there, and would you move if you had a chance? What’s your fa-
vorite thing about your hometown?
I live in De Kalb, TX. My wife and I moved up here from Angleton, TX about 7 years ago. Her Great Uncle gave us
30 acres of property the day she graduated from Texas A&M. I don’t think we would move away from here. We live
out in the country and we don’t have a lot of neighbors around to bug us. It’s very peaceful out here. My favorite
thing about De Kalb is it’s a very small town and everybody gets along well.
What is something about yourself that would surprise your coworkers?
Something about myself that would surprise my coworkers is that I like to cook. Some of them wouldn’t find that a
surprise since I cook for them quite a bit. I’ve been told that I make the best salsa.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
The best advice that was ever given to me is from my Papa. He told me that there are two phrases to say to a wom-
an to end an argument. “Yes Dear” and “You’re Right”. This has stuck with me for ages because it works.
What advice would you give a new Field Operations employee?
Advice that I would give a new Field Operations employee is to be vigilant. Learn everything you can from mainte-
nance to operations, that way you know what each part on the machine is doing and know what it is capable of do-
ing.
What’s one thing that surprises you
about working at Loram?
The one thing that surprises me about
working at Loram is the traveling. It’s
great to experience other states and
different countries. Without Loram, I
probably would have never flown on an
airplane.
What skill have you mastered?
The skill I feel that I have mastered is
operating a rail grinder. Grinding rail is
a quick pace job with keeping up with
obstacles, speeds, curves, patterns, half
the range of vision, and most im-
portantly – Track Time/End of Limits.
