first eco-friendly machine and offers huge benefits to our customers, especially those who are environ-
mentally sensitive. Hydrogen is considered to be a very safe fuel and less flammable in the atmosphere
than common fuel, such as diesel. The hydrogen gas is stored in exceptionally solid tanks on the ma-
chine as it is subject to strict safety guidelines, which will provide our team with many new challenges
and opportunities from an operational perspective.
What happens next? Loram’s new Milling Machine will be managed by Rail Grinding Manager, Zeb
Dintelman. Zeb and his crew will attend a principles and training program with Linsinger in order to
learn about the machine and its required operation and maintenance practices. Loram will officially ob-
tain ownership of the Milling Machine during the second quarter of this year when it arrives in the
United States from Austria at the Port of Houston in Texas. From there, the machine will be taken to
Port Terminal Railway for general education and use of the machine. Once this has been completed, it
will be transported by truck to Hamel. We have already had several customers express interest in the
machine, but it’s first demo will likely be for Metro North, Long Island Railroad, and New York City
Transit on the east coast.
Loram continues to provide the most advanced, most productive and most innovative railroad mainte-
nance equipment and services around the globe. Adding Milling to our portfolio is extremely exciting
and not only provides us with a new a product and service for our customers, but also provides our
team with new challenges and opportunities. As we venture into the world of Milling, we look forward
to working as a team to provide the most innovative rail extension solutions and best outcomes for
our customers.
