SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH

nate enough to have two sides of family which are willing to help while I travel. When I return from overseas, both
sets of grandparents are burnt out and ready to have dad home.
What is the best advice anyone has given you, and who was it from?
I was informed from Randy Anderson to limit the amount of trust put into someone else’s troubleshooting. Mean-
ing, if I take a phone call for support, I often repeat the simple and easy steps even if they have already been com-
pleted. The simple things often are overlooked. It is not uncommon to overthink and find yourself down a rabbit
hole with the complexity of Loram’s equipment. You could say I have trust issues, for the better.
What advice would you give a new employee at Loram?
Although the learning curve is steep, do not be intimidated by this equipment. If you stick with it, are eventually
able to fix complex problems from the back of your hand, the job satisfaction is unparalleled.
How do you pass time when you get a day off?
I spend as much time as possible at my cabin in Cushing MN on Fish Trap Lake. It is a step away from the hustle of
work and home. The kids love to go nuts outside and in the lake. By the end of the day they are completely spent,
which means it was a good day.
What has been your favorite city you have been to while working at Loram and why?
Probably Brisbane Australia. Australian residents are exceptionally nice and easy to work with. We don’t have
very good seafood here in the center of North America, so I am sure to triple my mercury consumption while I
am over there. The kangaroo is phenomenal, very similar to venison. The difference is you can get it pretty much
at any grocery store. Here in the US we cannot get that lean wild game unless you hunt it yourself.
Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?
Fantasy Football extraordinaire with one rule for drafting. NO PACKERS!! I always try to root for the underdog
team, which is the Vikings. WILD for 2022 Stanley Cup!! (This will have been decided by the time of this reading.)
