SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH
Nathan Moyer, Specialist Technician
Tell us a little more about how you started with
Loram, how did you hear about the job, which
positions you’ve held?
I was working as a PLC programmer at a packaging com-
pany in Plymouth MN and put my resume up on Mon-
ster.com. I got a call from a staffing company which asked
me if I was interested in working on railroad equipment. I
respectfully declined because I did not think there was
any automation on the railroads. They continued to pes-
ter me and finally I gave in and took a lunch break drive
down the road to Hamel. Randy Anderson and Paul Het-
tinger walked me through the cab of a railgrinder that
was being built, boy was I surprised and impressed! After
setting eyes on the equipment there was no doubt it
would be a fulfilling career. I have been a controls techni-

What do you enjoy most about working at Loram?
There are learning opportunities every day. The equipment is vast and highly complex so there never seems to be

I currently reside in Richmond, MN, a city of 1384 people. The best part of Richmond is that small town feel
where everyone knows you on a first name basis. It is peacefully dark and quiet at night, great for spring storm-
watching from the porch. Wild turkeys, pheasants, and deer are frequent visitors in the yard.
Do you have any hobbies?
I have been an avid fisherman my whole life, however more recently I have taken akin to pheasant hunting. It is a
fantastic way to stay active and outdoors. I currently have a new pup which I am working on bird dog training for
this fall hunting season.
What is the biggest challenge you face on the road and how does it affect your life? How do you
deal with it?
My largest hurdles with travel are most certainly finding care for my three- and five-year-old children. I am fortu-
