hour giving us the ability to utilize the limited track
time for more production. On April 1, 2010 RG401
began its journey and left Hamel with the first day in
revenue service starting on April 26, 2010.
It is now 2020 and Donald Trump is our President,
best picture is whatever you are watching on Netflix at
the time, the KC Chiefs won the Superbowl with a 30
second add cost of $5,600,000. The price of a gallon
of gas was $1.09 at Sam’s Club the other day. Almost
10 years later to the day that RG401 began its journey
we are setting it up to start another mission and fulfill
the footsteps that RG15 had done so faithfully and suc-
cessfully. It is also with deep regret that I must inform
you that RG15 has ground its last mile and changed its last stone. RG15 has performed well over the past 32 years and
fought a good fight. The last few years RG15 has been struggling with some engine power problems and traction sys-
tem issues. It has lost the old pep in the step that we need to be grinding in todays market. A difficult discussion was
had, and a tough decision has been made to put RG15 down. RG15 finished its last travel to Monroe, LA on April 29,
2020. This will be its final resting spot. Not all is lost for RG15 as many of the parts will be donated to other ma-
chines and we have some of its parts stored in Mexico that we will be able to utilize on RG401 when needed.
Lets all raise a glass in support for all the hard work that RG15 has done for everyone. Rest well RG15 you deserve
it!!
RG401 has been parked in DeRidder, LA for the month of April going through a well-deserved / needed overhaul. In
addition to a machine overhaul, the camp system that was used on RG15 has been inserted into the RG401 consist.
The camp system has also gone through a well needed upgrade with new flooring, appliances and air conditioning. The
plan for RG401 going forward will be to do all main line grinding in Mexico and the KCS in the US. If time allows some
other short lines may be on the agenda.
