Operational Excellence Coin!

Joseph Merila, Product Specialist was nominated by Marc Hackett for the Director’s Coin Ballast and Grade for
Quarter 1 2020

I am pleased to select Mr. Joseph Merila as the awardee for the newly created recognition coin program. Joe has
really been a key player over the years in keeping the fleet machines operating at the highest level of reliability.
Recently Joe was asked to take on the difficult task of assisting the shop as they work to renew SBC10. Joe em-
braced his role and went over and above to advise, mentor, and overall be a leader on this project. Joe stayed fo-
cused on the safe disassembly of the 30 plus year old machine, he also served as a walking encyclopedia of shoulder
knowledge as the team worked to reassemble the soon to be ready machine.
Any overhaul is tough, tough to motivate crews to get in and get dirty, tough to find the right parts for old ma-
chines, and tough to keep within the defined scope. Joe has done an excellent job no matter what the task. Thank
Joe, I sincerely appreciate your contributions to the Ballast and Grade Team, and your dedication to Loram. This
coin is a way for you to show others that you have done an “excellent” job as you execute your duties as a Loram
Product Specialist.
