FLEET VEHICLE UPDATES
Is your truck ready for winter? By Graham Rose, Manager Vehicle Fleet
As winter is approaching now is a good time to make sure your vehicle is ready. Here are a few things to check.
Take the time now to do the preventative maintenance and keep your vehicle in good working order regardless of
what the weather brings.
Is your basic maintenance up to date?
Is your battery weak? Cold temperatures mean your engine needs more current from the battery in order to
start.
Check your washer fluid and fill it with a winter blend.
Check your windshield wipers and replace if streaking or ripped.
Check your heater and defroster, make sure they are both functional.
Check your tires, don’t wait till your in the ditch or stuck somewhere! Tires should be replaced at no less than
4/32. If yours are close, plan to get them replaced before the snow and ice hits.
Check your 4-wheel drive and know how to use it.
Get in the habit of having a full tank of fuel, best practice is to not run under 1/4 of a tank of fuel in case you get
stuck or go in the ditch during a storm your engine can stay running and keep you warm till help arrives.
Make sure you have an emergency kit. Flashlight, first aid kit, shovel etc.
