FAC (17) 2017 - PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS
120. FAC heard that the performance of candidates in January 2017 was consistent with
that in January 2016. In both years, 85 per cent of the candidates attained acceptable
grades, Grades I-III. Performance was also consistent across the three papers: Paper 01, the
Multiple Choice, Paper 02, the Essay, and Paper 032, the Alternative to the School-Based
Assessment.
121. Performance on Profile 1, Production and Operations Management, was consistent
with 2016. There was a marginal decline in the performance on Profile 2, Marketing and
Finance, and an improvement in performance on Profile 3, the Business Environment.
FAC (18) 2017 - PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTS
122. FAC heard that there was an overall improved performance in January 2017 compared
with January 2016. Approximately 49 per cent of the candidates attained Grades I–III
compared with 41 per cent in January 2016.
123. Candidates demonstrated competence assessing accounting practices in given
situations and applying accounting techniques and methods to problems. However,
candidates demonstrated weaknesses identifying, defining and explaining concepts, terms,
principles and procedures.
124. FAC heard two cases of hardship for Principles of Accounts in January 2017 and
accepted the Subject Awards Committee’s recommendations as follows:
