ITEM 3 – ADOPTION OF THE REPORT OF THE MEETING OF THE 67 FINAL AWARDS
COMMITTEE HELD ON 29-30 July 2016
10. FAC adopted the report of the FAC meeting held on 29-30 July 2016 with the following
amendments:
11. Typographical errors were noted by the Deputy Chairman who advised that she would
make the relevant corrections and forward the revised document to the relevant personnel.
12. Page 6: Para. 31: - Amended to read: “The Registrar suggested that the best option
might be for CXC to state that all electronic watches are prohibited in the examination room.”
13. Page 9: Para. 50: - Amended to read: “There was a moderate increase in the
number of MCs scored by our internal scanning units in WZO and EZO - 670,047 in 2016
compared with 662,389 in 2015.”
14. Page 12: Para. 73: - Amended to read: “Mr Parris noted he had heard that in some
cases teachers were advised by the union and that in other cases, persons missed the
interaction and camaraderie of face-to-face marking. He also suggested that it would be
interesting to find out which territory had the largest number of no-shows.”
15. Page 13: Para. 78: - Amended to read: “Mr Seecharan commented that CXC should
continue to focus on the technology issue, and suggested that the fact that people were
marking out of tolerance highlighted the need to look at the standardisation process. He
noted that if standardisation was not conducted properly, there could be a negative impact
on the quality of the marking.”
16. FAC adopted the report of the 67 FAC meeting held on 29-30 July 2016.

ITEM 4 – MATTERS ARISING FROM THE REPORT NOT ELSEWHERE ON THE AGENDA
17. FAC received FAC (1) 2017 – Progress Report on Action Points from the Meeting of the
Final Awards Committee held on 19 February 2016 – and noted the progress on items as
indicated below:
Para. 36 – CHEAT WATCHES
18. Implement regulation and inform Local Registrars that “cheat watches” and similar
electronic devices would be banned from the examination room.
19. FAC heard that the information was sent to the territories.
Para. 167: Administration of the May – June 2016 Examinations
20. Combine all irregularities into one report and establish an internal committee to
assess and make recommendations on the cases presented.
21. FAC heard that this new process would be implemented from May-June 2017.
