     My Experience of the La Soufriere Volcano
         Other explosive eruptions occurred days apart and
         ended  on  the  22nd  of  April  2021.  However,
         volcanic  activities  continued  for  a  period  of  four
         months.
         After  the  explosive  eruptions  discontinued,  my
         family  took  a  chance  and  went  back  to  visit  our
         home. I accompanied them. We travelled in a van
         as  far  as  Georgetown,  then  walked  approximately
         eight miles to our village because the roads were
         impassable  for  vehicles.  In  some  areas,  I  walked
         through  ash  that  covered  my  ankles.  I  was
         astonished  by  the  vast  destruction.  I  saw  trees
         standing  with  their  branches  hanging  downward
         and  some  without  branches  looking  forlorn,
         buildings  including  houses  collapsed  or  totally
         destroyed from the weight of the ash, dead animals
         exposed to heat of the sun and fallen utility poles
         with  live  wires  on  the  ground.  The  main  roads
         looked  like  footpaths.  The  mountain  ranges  were
         all  exposed  and  looked  gray  from  my  vantage
         point.  The only form of life that was seen was that
         of  the  few  skinny  animals,  mostly  dogs  that  had
