Jambo’s Dream
Jambo was a bit disappointed that this was his only
sale, but he was not willing to give up yet.
The next day, Jambo did the same thing and
waited. He stood on the side of the road, for hours,
in the hot sun, until noon. He felt impatient and
just wanted to go home. He sat on the doorstep of
a shop with his arms wrapped around his knees
and his head buried in his lap. No one bothered to
ask if he was alright. They all walked by. Jambo felt
disappointed and devastated. Suddenly, he felt a
tap on his shoulder and looked up. It was the old
woman from yesterday. “Are you still selling ‘skin
up’? They are really sweet.” (Jambo shook his
head.) “Oh, why not?” (Jambo did not answer.) “You
should probably go home.” Jambo nodded,
grabbed his things and headed home.
