                 Sarhang Hatirai was appointed temporarily military Governor of
          Jask in August. His chief work was to negotiate with ilirza and Jalal,
           sons of ilirza bin Barkat, outlaws of Jask. He succeeded in inducing
           them to settle peacefully at Jask.
                 As a result of complaints published in the local news paper
           «*Bidarl« regarding bribes taken by the Conscription Department authori­
           ties, a commission was set up in November under the presidentship of
          Sarhang Kimiaof Tehran to investigate the matter.
                 Sartlp Siya Push (retired) arrived in Kerman on 10th July to
           6ell his property in Kerman before settling in Kashan under the orders
           of the Iranian Government. He left in the beginning of September
          without selling his landed property.
              internal Security.
                 January 1942.

                 A party of Gendarmes had a fight with robbers near Bam in which
          several Gendarmes v/ere killed. It is said that this was due to a
          blood—fi^d, as Gendarmes had killed some of the rocber3 before*
          Another clash occurred a few days later between Gendarmes and Baluch­
           is between Mshun and Abarak. One raider was wounded but was carried
          off by his companions.

                 In the same area on the 28th January about 10 men armed with
          guns held up the postal lorry from zahldan, a petrol lorry (with
           Indian driver and Indian passenger) from Kerman and the private car of
          Hr. Ruckstuhl, a swiss engineer coming from Bam. The drivers and
          passengers were stripped and robbed.
                 March, 1342.

                A lorry laden with tea and sugar was looted by an armed gang
          between A1 lab ad and Hajlabad on the lbth March. Am Gendarmerie guard
          who was travelling on the lorry was killed and the assistant driver
          wounded.
                April, 1942.
                 Ilurad All i’urod, looted the village of Korekoo near Bardslr*
          It was said that Sarhang Kolabegl of the Gendarmerie was in lesgue
          with Murad Ali I'urad.
                 Kay, 1942.
                 On 25th Kay a lorry carrying the mall from Bandar Abbas was
          held up by an armed gang in the neighbourhood of Aliabad. The moil
          bag was ripped opened and searched, including the Consulate bag. The
          robbers were said to have come from Fare. A second lorry was held
          up at the same time and place; sugar and piece-goods were carried
          off and the lorry was damaged.
                June. 1942.
                On the 7 th June a number of U.K.C.C. lorries were held up on
          the Bander Abbas road by an armed gai\*. The drivers lost their
          personal possessions and the mall biig from Bandar Abbas was rifled.
          A number of covers found scattered about the countryside were coll­
          ected. A Gendarmerie officer travelling on the rear lorry, which was
          able to turn back shot dead one and wounded & others of the robbers.
                July. 1942.
                A single lorry (Indian driver) was held up on*Bandar Abbas road
          on 7th July and the driver robbed of personal belongings.
                October, 1942.

                Some lorries were held up and looted on 18th October on4Bandar
          Abbas road between Ginofc and Sarzeh. Two conscripts travelling in
          one of them loot their rifle6 and ammunition.
