             3. ADItl.lISTRATOR
hr. Abdur Rahman, throughout the year. Kis status appears
to be rather questionable, as he has nc official authority, and
his tasks entail l.iunicinal responsibilities and the supervioien of
the issue of rationed commodities, but apparently he has no power

to enforce his orders :.f they are not acceptable to the Y/ali, or
even to a majority of the population.

The figures of inports and exports are included in these for
Muscat. Gn the whole the shipping pro;:rar.rie was good, and early in
the year Messrs Anderson a:.d Gunter of the E.I.S.li. Col Ltd. Bombay,

visited Gvradur and attended a meeting of local merchants where their
requirements and difficulties were discussed. Gv/adur’c fish uarkets
in Karachi and Colombo remained favourable, although during Parch there

was a serious fall in the price of fish in Colombo from Rs. IS/- to
?.s. 1C/- per cwt which affected the prices in Gvvadur• The accumulated
cotton stocks lying at Gwadur since the early part of the 1939/45

war has now been declared f^ee from infestation by the entomologist
from Ealuchistan and it is expected that these stocks will be cleared
to Karachi in the near future, free from import duty.

            5. G2.3SRAL
In August the mooring buoys laid in the west bay at Gwadur by
the Eritish Overseas^Corporation, Karachi, broke their moorings and

were v/ashed ashore. The B.O.A.C. authorities were informed but took
            no further action.
