lettero of the f.nglieh alphabet at the sane tl.no as they learn
the Arabic oneo. The standard of work In boih Aiv.Mc and
Diglish is good, but. e. lltt.le mor* onre is needed In the
pronunciation of the latter. In this school also the
standard in arithmetic was not so good as in the other

subjects• QJlie needlework is excellent and the work clean and
neat, and in the G'xth form the girls arc also taught dress
           making.
I was very much struck by the keenneos and interoat
shown by the girls in both the. 3ohoolo and their hoalth seemed
                                                   >
good except for the appalling/yhigh percentage of eye troubles.
A nurse attends twice a week at MUharraq to deal with minor
treatments and look after the general health of the girle.
I think it would bo an oxoellont thing to start girl
guide companies end nluo Bird Flocks in the sohools, ae this
would give the girls an interest connected with the school

apart from their actual lessons, and also enoourage them to
do more in the way of physiaal culture.
