not to oign any sort of paper with regard to the recognitior
of Shaikh Salman as an heir-npparent.
When the Bahama leaders could not persuadoe the
villagers to fall in with their wishes they held another
meeting in the garden of Mansur al Arayedli. Shaikh Baqir
bin Ahmad al Csfur and Shaikh Abdullah bin iluhammau Salih,
ex-Shin'h Qadhi, attended the meeting. They decided to
postpone the matter until the arrival of the Adviser.
About b days ago, Mullein al Tajir, Abu Ali al
Aluiwat, Sayid ^ai’d bin anyid Khalaf, Sayed Ahmad Alnwi,
Ilaji Ali bin Marhun, Haji Ahmau bin Sailurn, Abuur Rasul bin
Rajab, Shaikh Baqir al Usfur(one of the three Qadhis) and
Shuikh nbdullah bin Muhammad Salih, ex-Qadhi, gathered in
the ’Viatarn1 of Sayid Ahmad Alawi and discussed the question
of reforms in Bahrain. They confirmed the proceedings of
the previous meeting anu added that the nationals of Bahraii
should be given preference over other employees of the
Bahrain Petroleum Company. They also passed a reoultion
that members of the Legislative Committee should consist of
3 Sunni and 3 Shia'h members and that it should be under
the presidency of Shaikh Salman. They dropped the question
of the dismissal of the 2 Qudhis, namoly, Shaikh Ali bin
an and Shaikh Ali bin Ja’far. They have writtnn petitioi
on the lines oJc decided in their meeting and they are ndw
ousy in getting thorn signed by the inhabitants of Bahrain
f.*nd on completion they intend to give one copy to Shaikh .'i
Hamad and send one copy to P.R. ;

Shaikh Ali bin Hasan and Shaikh Ali bin Ja'far,
two Shia'h Qadhis, the Bahama inhabitants of the villages, .
the 3 Sunni Qudhis anu all the inhabitants of Muharraq and
Hidd, except fusuf Fakhroo(to whom Shaikh Salamn had given
large sum of money)ann his party, are in favour of Shaikh •
Abdullah bin lea.and not Shaikh Salman.
