Ref/ para.l of my note dated
24/10/38.
The notice issued by the Bahrain
Government regarding petitions was ended witt
the expression, "By order of Hamad bin ’Isa
al Khalifah, Ruler of Bahrain". These
4-V1 K VWVW
words were cut out from the copies
promulgated in Muharraq. whereas the words
( tJmeahing ithereby the Advsier,
Red bull.
werelpu^ on the copies distributed in
Manamah a^ter the word 'interview* of the
last sentence of the said notice which ran
as follows:-
" Any one who wishes to draw the
attention Xa of the Government to any
matter can ask for an interview and .state
what he has in his mind".
I understand that the Bahama of
Manaman were pleased with the dismissal of
I Shaikh Ali bin Jafar, one of the three Shia
Qadhis, and the appointment of Shaikh
Muhammad Ali al Qari in his place and they
went to Muharraq to offer their thanks to
i Shaikh Abdullah bin »Isa. They are,however,
displeased with the notice issued recently
by the Bahrain Government restricting the
duties of the Shia Qadhis as they say it is
an unlawful interference by the Government
in religious affairs.
