Background and claim to Hawar islands, 1936-1942 235
The Ilawur Islands.
This group of islands consists of ono large
island approximately 11 miles long and at the
widest point 2 miles in width, with an area of
about 17 square miles which is known as Ha.."\r
island and also a number of islands and rooky
islets which are adjaoent to hawar island.
On each of the islands there i3 a stone beacon
about 6 feet high surmounted by a pole on the top
of which is an oil drum painted rod and white, the
Balirain colours, The beacons are numbered as
follows
