who found the first evidence of Dilmun's existence in 1953 on hte lsland of
Bahrain. He also investigated other sites such as in the State of Oatar, Abu
Dhabi and Failka in Kuwait. He is the author of "Looking for Dilmun" and
"0estimony of the Spade' and like the most skilful detective story writer allows
his reader to share in each piece of new intelligence and the new pu2les that
each presents.
Geoffrey Bibby was founding member of the Bahrain Historical &
Archaelogical Socie.yt It was his aim to stimulate public awareness of
Bahrain's Archaeology and the importance of preseving the many
Archaelogical sites and objects discovered. It was his explanations on site
and the lectures he gave at the Society's premises htat kept the BHAS
members enthusiasitc and up to date with his excavations. He always had a
captive audience and with great patience answered the many questions put
to him by the members.
We in the BHAS have lost a pioneer, a great friend, a man with a spade in
his hand and a man with a great love for Bahrain and its peopﺕe.
