The geophysical work completed by this Company j.n
the area west of Ron Rolcan, Qatar is, at this time, bounded
on the south, west and north by u lino connect.!ug the following
geographical coordinates:
sX(26° 07' 20'1 N, 51° 01' 30" E) thane* westward to
^ (26° 07' 20" II, 50° 50' 51" E) thence* northward to
^'(26° 171 '10" N, 50° 621 30" E) thence eastward to
^(2<5° 17' 40" N, 51° 06' 18" u) thence northward* to
xy/^26.° 30' 00'! N, 51° 06' 18" E) and thence southeastward to
•(26° 22', 10!' N, 51°.11' 51" E)
The southeast corner of the above described figure
connects with the imaginary three-mile boundary or. the qutar
coastline and the northeast corner of l.V<• above described figure
opens into tho waters of the Persian Gulf lying oast of has Rakan.
We are at the present time performing exploretory
operations on the.east si do of Qatar only as a result of the
objection to our working west of Qatar as expressed by His
Highness the Ruler of Bahrain, Y/o do, however, wish to perform
exploratory operations to tho south of tho Dibul Jaimleh ar*:a
and in the area in which you have prov l.uusly granted your approval
for the performance of exploratory work by this Company, As
stated in our conference yesterday vie moved out of this area at
the time“of tho Ruler of Hahrain'd objections to performance of
exploratory work in the disputed area so that you might be given
time to satisfy his objections to the performance of tho work
in o peaceful manner, we will appreciate your cooperation in
working this matter out with tho Ruler of Bahrain as soon ns
possible so that wo may proceed, in a work mi. nliho manner in tho
performance of our survey opeiatlons in the extra territorial
waters of Qatar.
It is our understanding that the Ruler of
Bahrain has not objected to our performing exploratory
operations north'of D.lba.l and Has Rakan, and that in
fact wo have your approval, to proceed in this work area at tho
present time and that it is only in the area south of the north
tip of Dlbal’ and southwest of Ras Rakan that you are requesting
a delay in our field operations to permit yon to come to a peaceful
agrooment in this disputed area with the Ruler of Bahrain.
