                   which I delivered personally to the Ruler of Bahrain on tho 9th
                   July conveying an assurance of protection against aggression in
                   accordance vdth the instructions contained in your telegram No,
        -8-     ”6 393 of tho 5th July, and a translation of the Ruler's roply,   On

                   receipt of tho letter the Ruler expressed his heartfelt thanks
                   to ILLa Majesty's Government for the assurance together with an

                   appreciation of tho assistance always afforded him in tlio past
                   and many proyoro that the happy relations which exist between
                   Great Britain and Bahrain might oorltinuo for ever. He said ho „

                    fully real 1 nod tlio undesirability of allowing the correspondence
                    to booomo public and promised to treat it as secret.
