Report of the Director/
Chair Organizational Effectiveness
Archon Alvin G. Ragland
The over arching role of Organizational Effectiveness is to look at what can we do to prepare our organization for the future. What we have been built upon is a solid foundation of brotherhood, social action, and financial/ business acumen. This has been achieved and will continue to be the path that leads us to what our future will become as we continue to grow and induct younger Archons. As we all know the world is changing and doing so more rapidly than ever before and will continue. We have to prepare ourselves to meet those challenges and opportunities to continue to be the best organization we can be.
Early achievements have quickly become reality in working closely with GSA Murray as he begins his administration’s journey with the following achievements in place and/or in the works:
• EachExecutiveCommitteeChairalongwith their committee members were charged with developing what they were going to work on and be able to show tangible results/outcomes by having short- and long-term goals – Completed
• Listening Sessions were established to provide Archons the opportunity to ask GSA Murray and members of the Executive
Committee in an open forum so we could understand any concerns, thoughts and ideas. We wanted to explore how we would answer their questions and look at how we can use this feedback going forward in an effort to address any matters needing attention as we go forward. There were three (3) sessions in October with the fourth session to be scheduled on November 7th after the elections to hear what Archons have to say about the outcome and how we might play a role should the new administration desire to have Archons and/ or Archousai in significant roles. Feedback thus far has been very positive. In progress.
Lastly, one of the next steps for Organizational Effectiveness is to focus on organizational design and the task force members have been identified below and will begin meeting next week. We will be looking at our structure holistically from committees, vendors, consultants and Grand Office to better understand what work is being done by whom and benchmarking similar organizations to see how they are planning for the future in order for us to best serve the needs of our fraternity as we move to the future.
