Sire Archon Trevonne Thompson
The 26th Biennium of the Central Region began with the theme “Boule Tradition. Boule Excellence.” This theme proved to be prescient as we pre- pared for the 55th Grand Boulé this past summer. Many Central Region Archons planned, led, and participated in Grand Boulé programming and events. The capstone for the Central Region was the election of Archon Antoine Garibaldi (Iota) as Grand Sire Archon–Elect.
The Central Region and its twenty-four mem- ber boulés remain active during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being mindful of physical distancing, Archons are still taking the opportunity to know the best of one another—even if facilitated by virtual technology platforms. Archons and mem- ber boulés have been actively engaging in social action initiatives such as voter awareness and participation and addressing healthcare disparities during the pandemic.
During the first 100 Days of Grand Sire Archon Dwayne Murray’s administration, the Central Re- gion has aligned its priorities with that of the Grand Sire Archon and his theme “Vision, Leadership, and Action During Changing Times.” The Central Region is well represented on all of the Grand Committees. The Central Region Sire Archon, along with the other four Regional Sire Archons, has participated in Grand Executive Committee meetings and provided counsel to the Grand Ex- ecutive Committee members. The five Regional Sire Archons meet regularly to discuss issues of common interest, to coordinate activities among the regions, and to support the efforts of the Grand Sire Archon. The Central Region Executive Com- mittee, in support of the Grand Voter Awareness Initiative, has asked all Archons and member boulés in the Region to contribute to the John Lewis HBCU Voter Campaign Fund.
Prior to the pandemic onset, the elected officers of the Central Region planned to travel the Region and visit all of its member boulés. The pandemic has not deterred this plan. The elected officers have been visiting with member boulés virtually and will continue to do so as we support the agenda of the Grand Sire Archon.
