The Build Kansas Fund provides state matching dollars for projects throughout Kansas that successfully apply for federal grants under BIL. In 2023, the Kansas Legislature and Governor Kelly approved $200 million for the Build Kansas Fund to provide state matching dollars to Kansas entities and projects to meet federal local match requirements.Lt. Governor Toland Announces Rural Economic Development Grant RecipientsTOPEKA (1.23.2025) %u2013 Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland today announced the award recipients for the Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED)grant program. In this round of funding, more than $250,000 was distributed among 12 recipients across the state.%u201cThrough the SEED grant program, we%u2019re helping our small and rural communities grow stronger and become more resilient,%u201d Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. %u201cThese investments will drive economic development, enhance local services and create a more prosperous future across the state.%u201dAwardees of the grant represent communities with a population of 5,000 or less. Additionally, awardees must provide a minimum 10-percent match and complete the proposed projects within 12 months.
