Mycoskie's story is one that is simple yet

profound. When he visited Argentina for vacation,

let's pick up his story and his inspiration to start

TOMS. While there, he saw children in the street

during school hours, and they were all without

shoes. He asked a woman, "why aren't the kids in
school?" The woman said, "you must have shoes to

go to school." He saw this as a cruel and unfair
injustice. It ignited something in him. This injustice

moved him that the very next day, he connected with
a local non-profit organization and spent that day

helping distribute used shoes to the kids.

Mycoskie was so excited and liberated because of

how he felt while helping the children. Later that

night, he talked to Alejo, a friend who lived there,

and explained to him what he had done. His friend

asked him, "What will happen when they need their

next pair of shoes?" Right then, his excitement went

from an all-time high to an all-time low. Mycoskie

said, "I don't know." Later that night, he couldn't

sleep because he wanted to find a way to solve that
