INTRODUCTION TO THE CLUB
The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya is one of the most prestigious clubs in the RI district
3220 and consists of a team of dedicated people determined to make the world a better place, one
person at a time. As a university-based club, we encompass innovative, sharp, and unique strategies
to benefit the community due to our diverse membership. The collective effort of budding
professionals representing various fields, together with their diversifying skills to tackle issues and
provide optimum solutions is a rare and absolute advantage that only we, the Rotaract Club of
University of Peradeniya, experience in every project we do.
th
Having started off the 15 Rotaract year under the leadership of Rtr. Ravindu Seneviratne, while
facing the toughest challenge the world has faced so far, everyone quickly grew accustomed to the
new normal and changed the strategies to match the current situation. Twelve months later, we have
yet again proven to the community the determination, will power and the courage of our members
by successfully completing 41 projects which fall under 5 avenues of service and cover 11 sustainable
development goals and Rotary’s six areas of focus.
Being one of the most renowned, inspiring and prestigious clubs within the university with a member
body of more than 150 general members and 100 prospective members consisting of students from
all nine faculties that belong to different ethnic groups and educational fields, the Rotaract Club has
implemented projects under all five avenues of service. But as a university-based Club, we
concentrate mostly on Professional Development and Community Service. With the intention of
making lives better, the club has responded immediately to several catastrophic and sudden
situations by providing aid in any way it can. Due to this devotion and determination of club
members, the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya has been awarded many awards as well.
The contribution of the senior treasure Dr. B. M. K. Pemasiri, a senior lecturer of the Faculty of
Science and the support received from our beloved alumni and the university of staff should be
specially appreciated as they have been our greatest pillars of success.
Reach for Water, NextStep 360 and Prathibhana are the signature projects of the club and we have
received multiple awards over the years for these incredibly impactive, massive projects.
