Transportation services vary from facility to facility. Many

requirements and is responsible for clinical assessments and

The activity director is also a “key” person regarding resident
council and PEER. They are a good resource for residents with
suggestions about enhancing quality of life.
Dietary aide / Dietary assistant Staff who works in the kitchen with meal preparation; tray/steam
table set-up; transporting food to residents / dining areas;
collecting trays / food carts and returning them to the kitchen for
cleaning and washing. TIP: Every facility is different in respect
to the dining experience. Some facilities use “hospital-like” trays
and large carts to transport those trays to/from the kitchen –
especially for residents who eat in their room. Some facilities use
restaurant-like experiences and/or steam tables in congregate
areas. n personal care homes – the dining experience has even

more variation. Often, in smaller personal care homes, personal
I
care aides will prepare and serve meals and do the dishes. n
most nursing homes, the trays are delivered to the nursing unit
and the nurse aides deliver the meals to the residents – doing the
“set-up” f the meal. Tip: sometimes there is a delay between
