Frequently Asked Resident Questions Regarding Care Plans:

1. Do have to attend? No; if the resident opts not to attend the actual meeting, they can always ask nursing or social
services o review the care plan after the fact.

2. Can the facility invite my family to attend? Yes; families can attend if the resident wants them to; but they should never
be invited instead of the resident. (Unless the resident is determined to be incompetent and the family member has legal
standing)

multiple care plans. They may try to limit discussion o get everything finished in the time allotted. Residents should not be

intimidated y this. It’s OK to ask for as much time as needed and if the facility refuses, an ombudsman can always assist
the resident in convening another meeting and having ample time to discuss and resolve issues.
