1.3 Development of Human Rights
The development of human rights is a long historical process through which societies have gradually
recognized the inherent dignity and equal rights of all human beings. Human rights evolved in response
to injustice, oppression, and social inequality, aiming to protect individuals from abuse and ensure
freedom, justice, and equality.
1.3.1 Early Historical Foundations
The foundations of human rights can be traced back thousands of years, across different
civilizations and cultures. Even though early human rights were not universal, they reflected the
growing awareness of justice, morality, and human dignity.
