1. What is an ERP & How Your Organization Can Effectively
Utilize an ERP?
Enterprise-wide Resource Planning, more commonly known as ERP is a software with all your
operation from beginning to end totally integrated.
It creates transparency by combining all the requirements of the company into a single, integrated
software program that runs off a single data base so that the various departments can more easily share
information and communicate with each other.
Currently most SMEs’ operate their Business Process through Stand Alone systems. Sometimes we see
partial integration like the Sales & Accounting modules working together.
A major driver of the ERP is that the entire business work flow is automated thus streamlining the
Business Process and providing Information on time, which eliminates duplication and errors and
reduces manpower requirements while providing a whole host of other benefits.
In certain cases the HRM function including the Payroll is not integrated to the Financials. Most often
the Client avoids these integrations to keep a low budget. The ROI and time saving from integrating
these repetitive tasks are far greater than the monies invested.
So when you plan an ERP, go for a completely integrated solution with one goal, to have a single database,
that provides you all the information needs real time.
