• Active immunity: result from having an infectious
disease or immunization.
• Immunization (also called vaccination): the deliberate
exposure of the body to an antigen so that a primary
response and immune memory cells will develop.
• Polio Vaccination: the body is injected with weakened or
inactive strains of poliovirus.
• Antibiotic: a substance that can kill or inhibit the growth
of microorganisms.
Severe allergic reactions to particular allergens can result
in anaphylactic shock which causes a massive release of
histamine. In anaphylactic shock, the smooth muscles in
the bronchioles contract.
