The Sunday morning raging inferno destroyed the Simpson Sears building
and its contents, with amazing speed...the roof and wall portions
collapsed within one-half hour.
Every available fire hydrant within reasonable distance was tapped,
by the more than 50 Fire Fighters fighting the blaze.
During the peak of the fire, over a mile of hose was in use.
