My career - CASE line

              1. Information system - data modeling.
              2. Processing logic.
              3. Description of the tasks to be carried out with the user
                 interface presentation section.
For data modelling, without going into technical details,
they were in 3rd normal form and represented by a
Bachman 100 diagram. If the 2nd normal form was required
for specific cases (accounting balances), these were
              documented.
Several steps were required to determine the processing
logic and the tasks to be carried out. For the user interface,
we used to build prototypes for which adaptations were
              fairly simple.
In absolute terms, in a company, not only the IT manager,

but also the CFO and the CEO want to know how long it will
take and how much it will cost.
To answer these 2 questions, we developed and used the
concept of "pre-study". To begin a project, the pre-study had
to be finalized and the customer's approval secured.
The contents of the pre-study were:
              1. General project constraints.
Use of languages, start-up date, budgets, etc…
              2. Current and future needs.
              3. Decomposition into Domains, Applications and Tasks.
Each task was described in 10-15 lines.

100 For experts: with all arrows pointing downwards. When this rule is followed,
the diagram clearly indicates that stable entities are at the top and
transactional entities are at the bottom. This view can give an initial
                 indication of transaction response time.
