My career - CASE line

              10.2 CASE line – a methodology, a success
CASE line's board of directors was made up of the head of
                                       97
Belgium for the IBS group , the director of the Bruges head
office , the vice-president of the IBS group and me. These

                                                        99
people were also present at the meeting with the chairman.
I explained to them our sales approach, based on the quality
and performance of the Synon-2 product, the reliability and
stability of the IBS Group, and the fact that, once we had
decided to buy the product, we could help new customers
develop new application. To do this, we had a methodology
that had been tried and tested for over 2 years in
development work at IRE, as well as in projects for other
customers. As we had a number of real-life projects under
our belt, we had no trouble convincing new customers of the

              merits of our approach.
At the chairman's request, I also explained the basic
principles of the methodology I had developed and used on
many occasions. I had been refining this methodology for
several years. It was very structured and pragmatic.

10.3 Basic principles of the methodology
Generally speaking, a computer application is based on the
data it is going to manipulate, on the logic of the sequence of
transactions it is going to execute, and on the tasks it is going
to perform. From this simple observation, we can deduce
three points that must be dealt with correctly:
