My wine tours
For insiders only, this friend didn't stop there. For other
tastings, he completed his spectrum with comments that
were always exceptional.
18.3 My wine trips
One of the highlights of the oenology course was that the
teacher (and his wife 149 ) planned a week-long oenological trip
every year, always at the end of October/beginning of
November, when the grape harvest was over. These trips
were semi-professional, of the highest quality.
The travel cycle had a 4-year frequency:
✓ Bordeaux : Médoc
✓ Bordeaux : Graves and Sauternes
✓ Bordeaux : Pomerol and Saint-émilion
✓ Lyon - Avignon : Côtes du Rhône
He had access to the most prestigious châteaux and estates.
Thanks to him, we were able to visit Château Margaux,
Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Cheval Blanc,
Petrus, Yquem... more than 50 properties, each more
prestigious than the last. From memory, among these great
names, we did not have the opportunity to visit the "Le Pin"
appellation, one of the pinnacles of French wine.
From 1997 to 2010, we visited 3 appellations a day,
occasionally 4. Each visit was organized in the same way: the
vineyard, the cellars and the tasting.
