              Fusion
              Again,  due  to  the  extremely  high  pressures  and
              temperatures,  the  atoms  fuse  to  form  larger  atoms.
              (hydrogen -- >helium -- > lithium………… uranium).
              These are the types of reactions that still take place in the
              sun and some stars today.
              As  light  elements  disappear  over  time,  stars  evolve  and  -
              eventually - disappear too.

              Fission
              Fission is the opposite phenomenon.
              The heaviest elements, such as uranium-235, are broken up
              by bombardment with certain elementary particles, such as
              neutrons.

















              As can be seen in this illustration, fission of uranium-235
              will yield:

              •  2 fission products.
              •  3 neutrons.
              •  Gamma rays (Ɣ).
