Tasman Peninsula Day Walks

               I love our local coastal walks, both beaches and cliffs. But for truly spectacular coastal scenery it’s hard
               to beat Tasmania’s Tasman Peninsula. The peninsula is home to the sombre stillness of the Port Arthur
               penal settlement historic site. Yet, a stone’s throw away are the fresh and exhilarating walks of Cape
               Hauy, Cape Pillar and Cape Raoul. One doesn’t have to join the increasingly commercialised ‘Three
               Capes’ overnight trek to experience this magnificent coastline.




























































                  The guard dogs of the ‘dog-line’ are immortalised in bronze. The dogs kept a watch for convicts
                                             escaping from nearby Port Arthur.

               Passing Eaglehawk Neck’s infamous ‘dog-line’, an easy introduction to the peninsula is the short (5 km
               return) walk along the upgraded Tasman Coastal Trail from the end of Tasman’s Arch Rd along the
