SPACE
GOING INTO SPACE:
Will you ever go into space???
So far most of the people who have gone into space have been trained
Astronauts.
But soon it might be possible to take a vacation there, if you have
enough money.
SPACE SUIT:
· There is no air in space.
· It can also be either very cold or very hot.
· So, Astronauts must wear special space suits.
· These have their own air supply for the Astronauts to breathe.
· They also help keep the Astronauts at a comfortable temperature.
SPACE STATION:
· Space stations are like several big tubes joined together.
· People can live and work in them for many months.
· Many parts of the international space station, along with its crew, have
been carried into space by the shuttle.
THE SPACE SHUTTLE:
The space shuttle is part rocket or part airplane. It can blast off into space
and then fly back to the earth.
A SHUTTLE SPACE FLIGHT:
· The Shuttle blasts off like a rocket.
· First its reusable boosters fall back to the Earth.
· Then its fuel tank drops away.
· The Shuttle then usually spends up to 12 days in space before gliding
back to the earth.
· As it flies through the Earth's atmosphere, it gets very hot.
· It lands on extra-long run way.
EXERCISE:
In space you are weightless. This means your muscles don't work as hard.
So, Astronauts try to keep fit by exercising.
