Zum Feldsalat genehmigen wir uns eine Neuzüchtung, den noch wenig bekannten Souvignier gris, eine pilzwiderstandsfähige Rebsorte, von der Bergsträsser Winzergenossenschaft in Heppenheim. Der feine Schmelz des Weines lässt uns aufhorchen, kräutrige Aromen nehmen wir im Mund wahr, einen angenehmen Fruchtnachhall und im Abgang den Geschmack von Rapsblütenhonig.
Um das Angebot an Weinen halbwegs auskosten zu können, entschließen wir uns zu einer Riesling- Triologie. Vom Kirchberg des Weingutes der
Wine and sparkling wine
To begin the evening, he orders a sparkling wine from the winery of the city of Bensheim. It is a ne, sparkly Rotberger with ne acidity and the scent of red currant, ripe apple, and slightly yeasty champagne notes.
With the lamb‘s lettuce, we indulge in a new variety, the little-known Sauvigner gris, a fungus- resistant grape variety from the Bergsträsser Winzergenossenschaft in Heppenheim. The ne melting of the wine makes us sit up and take note of the aromatic aromas in the mouth, a pleasant fruit nish and the taste of rapeseed honey on the nish.
To savour the range of wines as much as possible, we decide on a Riesling trilogy. We try a fantastic white Riesling from the Kirchberg of the Bensheim winery. The fresh citrus scent lls our nostrils and encourages us to drink. A successful harmony of sweetness, acidity, and local yellow fruits dances on the tongue.
From the Jäger winery in Bensheim, we then dedicate ourselves to a red Riesling, 15 vintage, late harvest, dry. The increasing fresh scent of peach notes, accompanied by ripe apple, pique our curiosity. The invigorating acidity and the long- lasting nish win us over. From the Auerbacher Fürstenlager we now have a red Riesling in the glass from the Rothweiler winery. Fresh grapefruit reaches our noses with a soft almond tone. Fantastic!
A look at the house wine list promises us that no desire
remains unful lled.
That should be enough of the whites, but Dr. Tauscher decides to open another red Riesling from the Jäger winery. It was the right choice, as the tasting showed. A spontaneous fermentation, which he seldom achieves, with a pronounced int note and vineyard peach; an amazing feeling in your mouth.
The goose is now on our table and we want to enjoy it with red wine. The menu selection makes it dif cult for us to choose, but Dr. Tauscher urges: „It has to be done.“ He chooses a Dacapo from the Rothweiler winery which we are excited about. Gentle notes of tobacco rise from the glass, a fruit potpourri of blackberry and ripe cherry in dark violet. Now the Blue Zweigelt from the Jäger
Stadt Bensheim probieren wir einen tollen weißen Riesling. Der frische Zitrusduft steigt uns in die Nase und animiert zum Trinken. Eine gelungene Harmonie von Süße, Säure und heimischen gelben Früchten tanzt auf der Zunge.
Aus dem Weingut Jäger aus Bensheim widmen wir uns nun einem Roten Riesling, 15er Jahrgang, Spätlese, trocken. Der aufsteigend-frische Duft von P rsichnoten, begleitet von reifem Apfel, macht uns neugierig. Die belebende Säure und der langanhaltende Abgang überzeugen. Aus dem Auerbacher Fürstenlager haben wir jetzt vom Weingut Rothweiler einen Roten Riesling im Glas. Frische Grapefruit erreicht unsere Nasen mit einem sanften Mandelton. Klasse!
