der geschmackvollen Weinpräsentation der Bergsträßer Winzergenossenschaft angekommen. Dort wird schon von den Besuchern heftig gekostet. Und denen tun wir es jetzt gleich.
Was uns Reinhard Antes in den Weinbergen vorführte, das haben wir jetzt im Glas. Zunächst präsentiert er uns ein Trio des Roten Rieslings, das uns aufhorchen lässt: Als Einsteiger wählt er einen 16er Roten Riesling mit der Mandelblüte, dem Wahrzeichen der Hessischen Bergstraße auf dem Etikett.
,,Viniversum” wine paradise
After Reinhard Antes’ tours through the vineyards of Heppenheim, we arrived in “Viniversum”, the location of the tasteful wine presentation of the Bergstrasse Winegrowers’ Cooperative. The visitors had already sampled an impressive amount of wine. And now it was our turn.
What Reinhard Antes had showed us in the vineyards, we now had in our glasses. First, he presented us with a trio of Red Rieslings, which made us sit up and take notice: to start with, he selected a 2016 vintage of Red Riesling with almond blossom, the emblem of the Hessische Bergstrasse, on the label. “We consciously put it in a transparent bottle so that the golden yellow of the Red Riesling could come into its
own, and the uninitiated wine enthusiast can see that it is not a red wine variety.” With 11.5 percent alcohol, the wine belongs to the more moderate range. The number of grape plants were halved to increase quality in the vineyard. With a harmonious combination of fruit and acidity, the pronounced yellow colour makes you eager to try this wine. This is underlined by the appealing scent of citrus fruit, which
rises gently from the glass.
The 2016 late harvest of the Red Riesling presents itself in an appealing yellow, also dry in nature. A racy, full- bodied Riesling with high ageing potential and ne acidity. The next Red Riesling, also from the 2016 vintage, is pleasantly tart, with a hint of ripe apples and pears. The ne avours
result in a pleasant mouthfeel.
There was a yield reduction in the 2015 vintage of Pinot Gris due to the halving of the number grapes in the vineyard. A fresh, variety-typical representative, which won the Goldenes Land award. The next 2015 vintage of 15 Pinot Gris secured Gold at the Berlin Wine Trophy. Golden yellow in the glass, such a full and intense Pinot is rarely seen.
With the selection of a Red Riesling from the 2015 vintage, we enter the upper class of wines. Picked at with 112 degrees Oechsle, with ne fruit and sweetness and harmonious acidity, a taste explosion unfolds on the palate.

„Wir haben ihn bewusst in einer durchsichtigen Flasche abgefüllt, damit das Goldgelb des Roten Rieslings gut zur Geltung kommt und der unvorbereitete Weinfreund sieht, dass es keine Rotweinsorte ist”. Mit 11,5 Prozent Alkohol liegt der Wein im moderaten Bereich. Die Trauben wurden zur Qualitätssteigerung im Weinberg halbiert.
