Harley played goalball through the intermediate level, at which
time he was known to excel with his killer line shot. In March of
2012, the Central Texas Avengers played a tournament where they
won all four games to win the division. Fans sat at the edge of their
seats for the final game which was reported to be a real nail biter.
Other Texas tournaments which Harley's team competed were the
Region 4 DFW Sports Extravaganza Tournament, the Region 13
O&Mathon every year at Round Rock (which included other games
for the blind), and the Lone Star Classic Goalball Tournament.

Another tremendous summer opportunity for Harley was the STEP
program which was created by the Louisiana Center for the Blind to
address the needs of blind high school students. STEP, the Summer
Training and Employment Project, aims to introduce blind teenagers
to positive blind role models and provide participants with summer
work experience.
It is an eight-week program consisting of two components. First,
competent blind counselors instruct students in alternative techniques
of blindness. This includes Braille, cane travel, computer literacy, and
daily living skills. Seminars are conducted in job readiness, job
interviewing skills, resume writing and job responsibilities. The
