THE EXCEPTIONAL HARLEY FETTERMAN

             Katy Jacobs...

               My good friend Harley Fetterman
lost his battle with cancer today, and I
am heartbroken. Harley and I became
very close in our sophomore year
English class with Summer, and Noah
Steele. I made our table and our
             teacher, Whitney Shumate, (whom he
             enjoyed calling "Ghandi" despite her
             disapproval) shirts with braille on
them so Harley could read what they
said. We were like our own little
             family. My favorite memory from
speech and debate is when I dared
Harley to get up on stage in front of everyone and scream "FOR
NARNIA!" AND HE DID IT!!!! I will miss him and his craziness so
much. Heaven is really lucky today. Rest in Peace Harley.

             Loni Girdler...

Today I am mourning the loss of this incredible guy. Harley
Fetterman changed my life 7 years ago when he became my student.
We bonded over technology, maps, problem solving, joking around,
and going out to eat any chance we got. His parents, Beth and Kevin,
also became a part of our family. They are hilarious, smart, generous,
selfless, supportive, loving, and hardworking, some of the best
parents you will ever find! While cancer and leukemia plagued
Harley's body, it didn't plague his spirit. He continued doing the
things he loved like reading Braille, playing the guitar, and cracking
jokes. Harley was the epitome of overcoming adversity. No matter
what came his way, he was always brave and strong. While I was the
one hired to teach Harley, he was the one that actually taught me. His
legacy and spirit will continue to live on, in all the lives he touched in
his 18 years. Harley, you are so loved and will be greatly missed!
