Harley's fellow band students, at Bailey Middle School, were
always incredibly supportive and in awe of Harley. He motivated
them to become better musicians as well. His positivity and tenacity
set forth an amazing precedent. His music instructor, Sara McGarry,
was known to comment, “As much as Harley was known to enjoy his
music, he actually was also known to be so positive and easy going,
radiating joy to all those around him.”
Harley would continue to pursue his musical talent by eventually
become proficient playing, in addition to the French horn, the guitar,
accordion, mandolin, ukulele, and piano.
In junior high, Harley's parents continued to be enormously proud
of Harley's impressive academic achievements. Boastful, Kevin
posted Harley's first seventh grade report card on Facebook (97 – 92 –
95 – 95 – 94 – 99 – 98) which resulted in an immediate response of
“Thumbs Up” from a multitude of online friends.
In junior high, parents normally got letters from school if their
children were chosen to participate in the early SAT testing. Harley's
