THE EXCEPTIONAL HARLEY FETTERMAN
When questioned about which of Harley's accomplishments he
admired the most, Brian Alford quickly answered, “Perseverance—
plain and simple. Harley handled every day without fear as if he had a
life to live.”
Brian also had one title for Harley, “JOKESTER!” He felt Harley
had one of the best senses of humor which could be illustrated by a
comedic episode Brian remembered from Harley's junior year.
Harley, having appeared in Brian's classroom on lunch break once,
casually entered debate mode, “Alford, when I picture you in my
head, I do not picture an attractive human male.”
Bursting into instant laughter, Brian soon recovered his composure
and countered his own rebuttal. “Have you looked in a mirror
recently?” he queried back.
“Well played, Alford.” Harley summarized of their playful retort.
A candid photographic moment shows Harley hiding in the bottom
of a trophy cabinet in Brian Alford's classroom. Sensing an uneasiness
around him, Brian described having the “hell scared out of him” as he
realized that someone was staring out from his trophy cabinet. It was
Harley—eerily waiting for Brian to notice this hidden intruder.
