Page 11 - 7 Career Acceleration Hacks
P. 11
Now, let’s say you’ve always been a fast runner. If you practiced running every day for
a year, do you think you would become great?
Chances are, YES! You already have that natural ability, so putting in the time to
practice and train that skill will reap incredible results.
Make sense?
So, let’s take this same philosophy to the workplace.
My advice to you is to identify your strengths. There are many tools out there that you
can use.
A couple that I recommend are CliftonStrengths and StandOut.
CliftonStrengths will provide your top 5 natural talents out of 34.
StandOut has a total of 9 strengths that they call “roles”. StandOut will combine your
top 2 roles to create a unique description of your strength which is your edge. Mine is
an “Organized Trailblazer”.
I find both assessments to be extremely helpful and accurate.
The results go so far as to give you additional insights around what the strength means,
how to identify it in yourself and how you can use it in your career. Good stuff!
