Page 9 - 7 Career Acceleration Hacks
P. 9
Let’s consider this scenario:
You have an idea that you’re sure will create a positive business outcome and impress
your boss! Great!
However, before you go looking to grab your manager’s ear, you should run the idea
past a colleague or a key subject matter expert first.
Like it or not, every interaction with your management is an evaluation of your
performance.
When you present that great idea, to increase the chances of acceptance and buy in,
you should collaborate with others.
This will:
Ensure your idea passes the “makes sense” test,
Prepare you with answers to “what if…”, and “have you thought about…” questions
and,
Give you confidence and support from others.
I bet your manager will be impressed!
The alternative is that you present an idea without it being completely thought through.
This does not leave a good impression on you.
Believe me, I’ve been there, done that!
I don’t want you to make the same mistake.
So, continue to come up with those great ideas since they are key to differentiating
yourself from your peers, being a high performer and getting promoted! Just don’t do it
alone.
You got this!
